Glendale Full AC Replacement

A 14-year-old builder-grade condenser that couldn't survive July — replaced in a single day with a right-sized, high-efficiency system.

The challenge

The Martinez family's 1,900 sq ft ranch home still ran its original 2009 13-SEER unit. By June it ran 18 hours a day, the master bedroom stayed 6° warmer than the thermostat, and summer bills topped $340 a month. A leak search found the evaporator coil weeping refrigerant — a repair that would have cost nearly a third of replacement on a unit already past its prime.

The approach

Our Manual J calculation showed the original 4-ton unit was oversized for the home's actual load after window upgrades. We installed a 3.5-ton 16-SEER2 system, sealed 11 duct leaks found during the pressure test, added a return in the master suite, and paired it with a smart thermostat.
